About

My name is Betty Cory and I want to share my passion for quilting with the world.  I remember as a very young child receiving a patchwork quilt made by my grandmother.  There was no specific design, simply pieces of fabric sewn together.  The magic was that each piece of fabric came from something else – a dress, an apron, curtains, pants, etc. – all of which could be remembered.  My mother would say, that piece is from the dress I made when you were 2 or that piece is from the curtains my grandmother made for our new home.  Memories sewn together into a family of fabrics.  My mother continued the legacy, making quilts featuring traditional designs and patterns for her grandchildren.  These patterns included dresden plate, logcabin, pinwheel, nine patch, ohio star, flying geese and so many more.  Many of these quilts were treasured for long past their lifetimes.

I guess my love of quilting comes from these memories.  My mother taught me the basics and I continued by reading anything I found in order to try more and more intricate patterns.  Paper piecing became my favourite technique and allowed me to explore my favourite pattern – The Mariner’s Compass.  I have made so many quilts over the years it is hard to remember them all but each one was made with a specific person in mind.  That was always a mainstay for me, to think of times spent with that person.  Now I continue to make quilts in order to try new patterns and techniques and many of these quilts don’t have a special home yet.

I hope you enjoy this website and, if you are a quilter too, feel free to contact me – I love to speak with others that hold the same joy in the craft as I do.  I have marked several quilts that are available for sale and, if you are interested, please message me and we can talk.  I am also happy to discuss custom work for anyone with something specific in mind.  Again, message me and we will talk.

Enjoy!

Betty
