Wishing Star is another Quiltworx pattern that was paper pieced. I used lots of jewel tones in the project and found a background that reminded me of a summer sky. Stephanie Wilms quilted it with an overall swirling pattern that fits with the dreamscape theme!
The piece is a throw quilt sized 60” x 60” and is 100% cotton fabrics with cotton batting.

This is a pattern from Quilts by Jen and features the Bargello technique. Bargello colour runs of varying golds and yellows were created and the petals of the sunflower were cut from those runs. The petals were then appliqued to the background. The center is a checkerboard of 2 dark brown fabrics made to look like the seed center of the flower. It was machine quilted by myself using stippling and stitch in the ditch techiques.
This work is a 40 x 40 wall hanging now adorning my hallway!

This is a Running with Scissors Quilters pattern purchased from Deb Tuckers Studio 180. A mandala in it’s simplest form is a square composition containing four circles around a center point. In this design, half square triangles and V block units are combined to display the Mandala. I made this piece to be a table cloth for our dining room and it features gold and burgundy with an ivory background. Stephanie Wilms quilted it using swirling pattern reminiscent of the Victorian era.
Osprey’s Nest is a Quiltworx pattern featuring logcabin and wedding band quilt designs. I adapted the pattern so that it would work as throw over our living room couch. My husband quite enjoys afternoon naps under this quilt. It was quilted by Feathers by Penny.
This is the first time I tried drawing my own pattern for paper piecing. I gathered lots of fabrics from my stash which reminded me of the colours I have seen in old stained glass windows. It was a lot of fun. I machine quilted this myself using the “stich in the ditch” technique.
This pattern from Quiltworx is a take on my favourite quilt pattern – The Mariner’s Compass. I found fabrics reminiscent of older days to keep with the vintage theme. It was paper pieced and Stephanie Wilms quilted it with a swirling leaf pattern.
